Rechargeable locks
These locks are charged with a USB-C cable, and a full charge lasts approximately 7-9 months.
The locks are usually charged to about 60-80% when you receive your delivery. If you charge the locks with a computer, it takes about 20 minutes to charge by 40%. Charging is typically a bit slower with a mobile device or power bank.
Each lock comes with a USB-C cable and a U-fitting to secure the lock to the chain. You will also need a small screwdriver to open the lock, which will be included in the first delivery. Be sure to keep this screwdriver, as no replacements will be sent if you need to change the lock in the future. You can also purchase one from a hardware store if you’ve accidentally misplaced it; the required size is Torx 8.
It is very difficult to determine what might be wrong. You need to try to understand what kind of error signals the lock is giving. Once you know that, you can follow Igloo’s own guide to understand what different error signals mean.
- If the padlock emits 4 short beeps and flashes red twice, it means that an incorrect PIN code was used to unlock the padlock.
- If the padlock emits 3 sets of 4 short beeps and flashes red twice, it means that a deleted PIN code was used to unlock the padlock.
- If the padlock emits a siren sound for 30-90 seconds, it means that the padlock’s security lock mechanism has been activated (due to 5 consecutive incorrect PIN codes); wait until the siren stops and try unlocking the padlock again with the correct PIN code.
- If the padlock emits 3 fast descending tones and shows a red breathing LED light, it means that the battery is running low; replace the battery as soon as possible.
- If the padlock emits 6 sets of 4 short beeps, this is a possible obstruction alarm. If you tried to access the battery cover without unlocking the padlock first, this might be the reason. See the video “Incorrect Assembly” further down the page for instructions on how to fix this issue.
If the issue is still unclear, we may need to send a new lock. In that case, please contact support via our form.

Checklist for locks before the season starts
When the season begins, there are a few things you should check regarding the locks. If you cannot access the Igloo app or see your locks, make sure you have accepted the email invitation. If you still have issues, contact customer support.
01 Recharge the battery
02 Sync the lock
This needs to be done at least once a month in order to work correctly. Sync each lock in the Igloo app.
03 Update Firmware in the Igloo app
You can clearly see this with a red banner on the lock’s page in the app.
If the app notifies you that it’s time to perform a “Firmware update,” it is important to complete this.
A firmware update is when a new version of the software/code running on the locks is installed. It may include new features, bug fixes, security updates, and more.
If you haven’t completed the update, it may, for example, appear as if the lock’s battery level is low. However, after updating, the battery level may return to normal.
