igloo padlock
smart padlock
KAYAKOMAT’s smart locks are an important part of our 24/7 self-service model. Our smart locks give our customers the ability to easily book and collect kayaks and SUP boards without having to interact with an operator or staff.
Our smart locks are equipped with the latest technology to ensure the safety of both the equipment and the customer. Each lock has a unique code that can only be opened by the person who booked the equipment.
We are proud to be able to offer our customers this convenience while ensuring the highest possible security and protection for the equipment.
We have two different locks, one with a separate battery and one that is rechargeable. Read more about your particular lock further down the page.
no need to be connected to the internet to work
Unlike many other smart locks, the locks we use from iglooworks do not need to be connected for new PIN codes to be generated and take effect, thanks to a technology called algoPIN that is similar to the algorithm used to generate codes for safe deposit boxes.
Codes can be generated without the need for the lock to be connected and have the validity period built into them.
It is very important that you keep padlocks locked at all times, as they can be prone to theft. They should be locked even when customers are out paddling, as they will be informed.
Locks should only be unlocked upon collection and returning of equipment.
Because of the way the algorithm works, it is very important that the clock in the lock is kept in sync. A clock that is allowed to tick will sooner or later end up a couple of seconds ahead or behind, which will put the code technology out of action.
It is therefore very important to perform a sync at least once a month. This is easily done by opening the igloohome app when you are near the lock, selecting the lock concerned and pressing BT sync. The sync takes a couple of seconds.

iglooworks app
When you log in to the Igloo-works app you will need to fill in the Organisation Identificataion, where you enter kayakomat + the country code, 2 digits, for example for Sweden it is “kayakomatse” or for Germany it is “kayakomatde“.
Once everything is ready, you will be able to see your locks in the app and unlock them with Bluetooth when cleaning, etc. It’s also very important that you Bluetooth-sync the locks at regular intervals (at least once a month). This is to keep the internal clock in the lock set correctly, as the codes depend on it to work. If a lock is not synced for longer than 6 months, we reserve the right to deactivate the lock, as this often results in the codes not working and a poor customer experience
Occasionally, a red banner will pop up on a lock in the app telling you that there is new Firmware available for the lock. Always make sure to update the firmware when possible. To do so, click on the red banner and follow the instructions. This should generally always be done if it is available, as new firmware contains updates and/or fixes that ensure that the locks work in the best way and are kept secure!
