sell equipment

HERE'S HOW TO SELL EQUIPMENT

In brief:

  • Identify which of your kayaks/SUP boards is in the worst condition and may need replacing.
Note that the accessories (paddle, canopy, float & lifejacket) are included in the purchase.
  • Fill out the form further down the page so we can see what you want to sell and what condition the equipment is in. This is a great way of earning some extra money during low season and also receiving new fresh kayaks and SUPs for the upcoming season.
  • KAYAKOMAT HQ puts that equipment online for sale on our webshop, based on the current price list. However, it is not KAYAKOMATs responsibility to ensure that the equipment is sold. You are welcome to upload items for sale on marketplace etc, and once the customer is ready to pay you send them to the webshop for online payment.
  • A customer buys the equipment and pays Kayakomat.
KAYAKOMAT pays out the commission to the operator.

All sales of rental kayaks and SUPs go through KAYAKOMAT / Point 65, as we own the equipment. You as the operator actively search for buyers, but the actual transactions go through us, and we then pay out the commission to you.

KAYAKOMAT HQ markets used kayaks in several ways, to increase the number of sales.

We reserve the right not to put a kayak/SUP board up for sale. We will contact the operator in that case.

Fill in the form to sell equipment

For those who rent equipment and have equipment that needs to be replaced, please let us know which equipment needs to be replaced by filling in the form below.
The sale will be made through us, and a % commission (see your contract) will then be paid to you.

There is space to fill in for 4 units, but if you only plan to sell 2 units you can leave the rest of the questions blank. We will get back to you after you fill in the form.

Here is the price list where you can check prices depending on how good or bad condition your kayak/SUP is in. There are three different price categories.

KAYAKOMAT's part of the sales effort

  • Manage the sale by posting all the equipment to be sold online. Once you have filled out the form, we will add your equipment to the online shop within the following days.
  • Managing the payment solution for the customer and the operator.
  • Market 2nd hand sales via our website, newsletter and by giving customers the opportunity to sign up during the summer to be notified in the autumn when the sale starts (we then pass them on to you).

The operator's part of the sales process

  • Fill in the form with which equipment is to be sold.
  • Publicise the fact that equipment is now for sale and actively sell the equipment.
  • Contact with potential buyers. For example, to offer test paddling, answer questions about the product and.
  • Make sure that new equipment is ordered from KAYAKOMAT HQ.

NOTE: Each kayak can be purchased by the customer with or without a rudder package. If they order with a rudder package, one will be sent from KAYAKOMAT to you as the operator or directly to the customer. In case it is sent to you, you will give it to the customer, together with our manual on how to mount it.

The customer's part of the sales process

  • The customer is directed to our webshop for second-hand kayaks and sees where they are available and can pay by card or Swish*.
    *Sweden and other Nordic countries
  • The customer is given two choices for collection:
    – The customer selects “collect from vending machine” and receives a confirmation. They are then sent a code to come and collect it from the machine at the chosen time. It will be ready for collection within 24 hours.
-The customer chooses “Pay on site and collect after contacting the seller”. The customer receives your contact details via the advert. By contacting you as the operator, they can view the kayak/SUP and pay on the spot. They then pay via swish, to our company account. Swish number is in the advert. Then notify us that it is purchased!

  • Regardless, the payment is made from the customer to KAYAKOMAT / Point65 and then from KAYAKOMAT / Point65 to your operators.

FAQ on second-hand sales

It is easy to sell now during the autumn, so that you get places available in the KAYAKOMAT and we see that these will be filled up for next season. We order next season’s kayaks/SUP already during the autumn. Therefore, sell the equipment no later than 31/12 prior to the upcoming year!

Buy one at home here, or let the end customer order at the same time as they buy the kayak (see also Point65’s homepage)

You can sell the kayaks/SUPs that need to be replaced, up to a maximum of the entire fleet within the contract period, normally 3 or 4 years.

If you have bought equipment from the start, you can choose how many you want to sell. However, all kayaks must be replaced after 3 years according to the contract.

The equipment that is most used/worn out, so that you get new nice equipment again!

Meet on site or let the customer book a kayak on the website, for example by giving a 95% discount code (so you still get the card details in case something happens).

You can also offer to refund the booking if they complete the purchase. Send the booking number to the support team.

Payment to you as the operator will be made no later than the end of the month following the payment from the customer. For example, if a customer bought a kayak on 20 September, payment will be made by the end of October.

If you rent equipment from KAYAKOMAT, you will receive a commission as a percentage of the sales price. The commission is stated on your contract with us.

If you bought the equipment from KAYAKOMAT when you started, you get the full amount.

Tips for second-hand sales

Remember that you can keep the station open even if you have sold units!
In that case, just deactivate those slots and rent out the rest.
NOTE! If you are often fully booked, it may instead be wise to wait a little with the sale, or sell but let the customer know that they can pick up their kayak later in the autumn!

When approaching potential buyers of your equipment, it is important to emphasise the following benefits:

  • Point 65 Sweden is a world-leading kayak brand.
  • Stable and beginner friendly kayaks. Rodder can be bought extra, but is not needed.
  • Lie vest , paddle and spay skirt inluded.
  •
  • New price are significantly higher than second-hand price (see Point65)
  • Easy to test paddle! Let the customers meet you, or send them a voucher code to paddle  (90% discount, so that you still get them to enter their card details, you can ask us to refund them ater if you want)
  • Factory warranty applies.
  • Buying second-hand is more sustainable than buying new!
  • Buy local, avoid long distance shipping!
  • Buy safely online.
  • Buy in autumn, “collect” in spring. Offer the customer to keep the kayak/SUP during the winter if you have your KAYAKOMAT standing all year round.
  • If the off season is still far away at the time of purchase, you can offer a voucher or discount to be used until the kayak is ready to be collected.
  • Advertise your kayaks on Facebook Market place, in local Facebook groups, on Blocket.se (Sweden), Shpock (Germany), Le Bon Qoin (France) etc.
  • Send and´ email to your rental clients from the past season (ask us for help)
  • Add a sticket with info on the actual kayakomat station
  • Write a post on your Kayakomat social media
  • Contact local outdoor organizations, such as the scouts or a camping close to the water in your area.

Before you put your kayaks or SUPs up for sale or for the upcoming season, it’s a good idea to give them a refresh.
