KAYAKOMAT’s smart locks are an important part of our 24/7 self-service model. Our smart locks give our customers the ability to easily book and collect kayaks and SUP boards without having to interact with an operator or staff.

Our smart locks are equipped with the latest technology to ensure the safety of both the equipment and the customer. Each lock has a unique code that can only be opened by the person who booked the equipment.

We are proud to be able to offer our customers this convenience while ensuring the highest possible security and protection for the equipment.

We have two different locks, one with a separate battery and one that is rechargeable. Read more about your particular lock further down the page.

How Our Smart Locks Work
Unlike most smart locks, our iglooworks locks do not require an active internet connection to generate new PIN codes. This is made possible by algoPIN technology, which uses a secure algorithm similar to those used for bank safe deposit boxes.

Key Features:

  • PIN codes can be generated offline, no connection needed.
  • Each code has a built-in validity period.


Security & Daily Use

  • Always keep padlocks locked—they are vulnerable to theft if left open.
  • Locks should remain secured even during rentals. Customers are informed of this policy.
  • Only unlock the lock when picking up or returning equipment.

lock Synchronization (Critical Maintenance)
The lock’s internal clock must stay accurate for codes to work. Over time, the clock can drift by a few seconds, which will disable the code system.

You must sync your lock at least once a month.
To do this:

  1. Open the igloohome app near the lock.
  2. Select the relevant lock.
  3. Tap “SYNC.”
    The process takes only a few seconds.


Important:
 If a lock is not synced for more than 6 months, we reserve the right to deactivate it. Unsynchronized locks often cause code failures and a poor customer experience.

Igloohome App Setup

Initial Setup

  1. Download the igloohome app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
  2. When logging in for the first time, you will be prompted to enter an Organisation Identification.
  3. Enter: kayakomat followed by the two-letter country code of your station.
    Examples:
    • Sweden: kayakomatse
    • Germany: kayakomatde
    • France: kayakomatfr


Once setup is complete, your locks will appear in the app. You can then unlock them via Bluetooth for daily operations such as cleaning or maintenance.

Firmware Updates

Periodically, a red notification banner will appear on a lock in the app, indicating that a firmware update is available.

Action required:

  1. Tap the red banner.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.


Why this is important:

Firmware updates contain critical security patches, performance improvements, and bug fixes. Always install available updates promptly to ensure your locks operate reliably and securely.
