Intro to partnerships

Partnerships help you reach new customers through trusted local and central collaborations. This guide gives you an overview of how partnerships work at KAYAKOMAT and how you can use them to grow your station.

What are local partnerships?

Partnerships mean teaming up with local businesses or organizations to help promote your KAYAKOMAT. It’s all about collaboration — you help them offer something fun and unique to their customers, and they help spread the word about your paddle station.

You can partner with hotels, hostels, cafés, tourism offices, restaurants, student associations, gyms, real estate agencies, and more. These connections build trust and give you access to new audiences — and with tools like discount codes, you can make the partnership even more attractive and measurable.

How can partnerships help grow your business?

  • Reach more people – Local businesses already have loyal guests and customers. When they recommend your KAYAKOMAT, more people hear about you.

  • Build trust – People are more likely to try something if it’s suggested by a place they already trust.

  • Attract tourists – Visitors have the time, budget, and desire to explore. Make sure your KAYAKOMAT is one of their top activities.

  • Boost visibility online – Social media cross-promotion helps your reach grow even further.

  • Track results with discount codes – When each partner has a unique code, you can easily see which partnerships bring in bookings.

Tourism offices, hotels, and campgrounds are especially valuable – they want their guests to have a great time and are happy to promote fun activities like paddling. But don’t stop there — think creatively and reach out to other types of local groups too.

How to get started?

Here’s how to build strong local partnerships and make them work for your KAYAKOMAT.

Choose the right partners

Start with businesses that attract your target customers — especially tourists or active locals. Great examples include:

  • Hotels, hostels & campgrounds

  • Cafés & restaurants (especially near the water)

  • Tourist offices

  • Student groups, gyms, real estate agencies, outdoor shops, NGOs…think outside the box!

  • Partners already established by Kayakomat HQ, se below.

If they cater to curious, social, or outdoorsy people — they’re a good fit.

Decide on what to offer

Make it easy for your partners to promote you:

  • Distribute Flyers and posters. You can use our generic ones, a local one or even make one unique for your partnership.

  • A unique discount code they can share with their guests or customers (e.g., HOTELNAME10).

    Discount codes are a win-win:

    • They give partners a nice offer to share

    • They help track where your bookings come from

    • They make your partners feel involved and appreciated

  • Decide on a joint deal. Think creatively! Combine your offers for extra appeal. An example is partnering with a nearby café where customers can book “kayak lunch pack”, and café guests can  get a discount on kayaking. A bar could give a 10% discount on the tab if they show their booking confirmation, while you can mention the bar as a perfect “after paddel stop” on your website.
  • Package an experience together. Hotels, tour operators and event are good examples of companies that might want to include a kayak trip in their offer. There are many ways to do this. Here you can see an example of how an operator works together with a hotel
  • Host an event together. A gym or a student organization might for example want to do a “day out” if you suggest it! At exisitng events, such as a running competition, the offer might instead be a kayak voucher for winners, or a discount code for participants.

Boost visibility together:

Have both you and the partnering company spread your collaboration in all channels. It can be printed material, newsletters, online and of course on social media. Use social media to support the partnership by for example:

  • Tag each other in posts and stories

  • Ask to be featured on their Instagram, Facebook, or in newsletters

  • Run a giveaway or contest together — a fun way to attract attention and new bookings

Make use of our central partnership

At KAYAKOMAT HQ, we collaborate with national and regional partners — from tourism platforms to student associations and outdoor brands. Many of these partnerships benefit you directly, through added visibility, campaigns, or special offers.

You can also make the most of them locally. For example, if we have a national deal with a student network, you might want to mention a student discount on your page or reach out to a local branch of that organization.
