What is a local event?
Local events are fun, simple gatherings or themed activities you host at your Kayakomat station to attract attention and bring people together. It could be a casual after-work paddle, an opening day offer or anything else. The goal is to create opportunities for people to try Kayakomat, meet others, and feel connected to your station.
These events can be:
- Run by you
- Hosted with a partner
- Or even self-led by participants

Take a look at our Activity Calendar for themes and occasions to help you plan your next event.
How can local events help grow your business?
- Attract new customers – Events are great for people who have never tried Kayakomat.
- Encourage group paddling – Many people don’t want to paddle alone. Events give them a reason to join in.
- Boost repeat visits – One fun experience can turn a first-time guest into a loyal customer.
- Generate buzz – Events are something worth sharing – on social media, with friends, and in local media.
- Build partnerships – Collaborate with gyms, schools, clubs, or local businesses.
How to get started?

Step 2 : Set a time, place and plan
- Add small extras like coffee, BBQ, or a local guide to make it special

Step 3 : Create a facebook event
Step 4 : Promote your event
- Post on social media and local Facebook groups
- Talk about it to your local newspaper
- Invite local partners or influencers
- Mention @kayakomat in your posts so we can reshare them
- Optional: Boost your post with a small budget to reach more people
Step 5 : During the event
- Take photos! (Ask participants for permission to use them in marketing)
- Be clear that participation is at their own risk
- If you’re not a certified guide, mention that you’re just organizing the meet-up
Step 6 : After the event
- Share photos
- Plan the next one!
💡 TIP! Consider local events already happening in your town, such as anniversaries or festivals, that could be great opportunities for promotion. Also, think about organizations that might be interested in hosting an event on the water, like the Nature Conservation Society, local gyms, PRO, or schools planning an outdoor day.
