What you as an operator SHOULD do

      • Ask friends and family to write reviews.
      • Google as if you were a tourist in your town, a family looking for something fun to do, etc. What websites come up? Often there are aggregator sites like visitstockholm.com etc, these are perfect to contact and ask to be included! Do competitors’ sites come up? If you have recently started your station or have a lot of competing business, Google may judge that other pages are more relevant to show first. Be patient and do the tasks above!
      • Should I pay for advertising on Google myself? No, you do not have to. There is a risk that our adverts will compete with each other and become unnecessarily expensive. If you want to spend extra money on marketing here, it is better that you let us know.

Get access to Google Business Profile

Before you receive your Kayakomat, you will receive an email from Google inviting you to become an administrator for your station on Google Maps.

The invitation looks like the picture below. Please accept it to gain access and let us know if you need help.

Does it not work? Either:
1. Create a Googleaccount with your kayakomat.com – email . That way you get everything kayakomat-related in one place.
OR
2. search the name of your kayakomat on Google and press “I own this company” and then select “trustee” as the role. We will accept it shortly. Note: do not select “Owner” as the role.
OR
3. send an email to support via mykayakomat that we should add you with your private email address instead (if you have gmail/a google account).

Google My Business is a free tool from Google that allows businesses to be visible in the search engine’s search results. It is the information from this profile that is visible, for example, in the local search box that appears on the right in local search results and shows the locations on Google Maps.

It contains your email address, phone number, location, opening hours and more. KAYAKOMAT HQ creates such an account for each KAYAKOMAT and you will receive an invitation to become an administrator for this. We will upload the correct location, location, contact information and pictures, but it is good to make sure that the information is correct and update if necessary.

Being active and uploading photos, getting and responding to reviews, adding events and creating offers will make your profile show up in search results according to Google. You can also see an overview of how many people have found you!

PAID PRESENCE ON GOOGLE

Often, when you search for something (e.g. a restaurant) on Google, you will see a couple of paid search results at the top, with the word “advert” above the regular search results.
